Hazel & the Delta Ramblers Background Information You can hear Hazel, the Delta Rambler, every Sunday morning at 10:30 AM CST on WWOZ 90.7 FM radio in New Orleans. The show is also broadcast on the Internet (www.wwoz.org). She has CDs available, including those listed here on her web site, as well as "Hazel & the Delta Ramblers Live at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival". Formed in 1977, Hazel & the Delta Ramblers play traditional bluegrass and old time music. Based in New Orleans, Hazel & the Delta Ramblers have appeared at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival for twenty years. Their venues are diverse including appearances on the Riverboat Natchez, at coffeehouses, church fairs, bluegrass festivals and conventions. They made two successful tours in France. Apart from traditional music, they perform some original material and do children's concerts. They are currently supplying dance music for a monthly contradance for the Greater New Orleans Folk Society. The instrumentation of Hazel & the Delta Ramblers consists of Hazel on the mandolin, her husband Larry Schlueter on the upright bass, Scott Kropog on the guitar, Christy West on the fiddle and Russ Van Dyke on the banjo. All band member sing lead and/or harmony.
